How to make my desktop fonts smaller?

  hi all,
  
  my sister yesterday played around with the computer and ends up all the fonts (not only desktop) became very big thus makig the spacing between icons very spreaded out.
  
  i tried changing the desktop theme back to windows XP default but the fonts are still the same. anyone can help?

  already tried it. the font size is already set to "Normal".

  Right click on your desktop, select Properties.
  
  Select the Appearance tab, click on Advanced button.
  
  Under Item, select Icon.
  
  Under Font, leave it as per usual. Next to it, there's a size field. Change that value to 8.

  That's huge.
  
  And by the way, that's the default Windows settings. I think it's your screen resolution.
  
  1. Right click on desktop, select Properties.
  2. Select the Settings tab.
  3. Under Screen Resolution, try dragging to slider to a higher resolution. For example, if it's showing 800 by 600, drag it to 1024 by 768.

  i'm using a wide screen LCD. it's already set to the highest resolution of 1440x900.

  Same thing, right click on desktop and select Properties.
  
  Select the Appearance tab. Click on the Advanced button.
  
  Under Item, select Active Title Bar. Next to it, there's a size field. Choose 25.
  
  Font size for Active Title Bar is 10.
  
  Next item, Inactive Title Bar. Size is again 25. Font size 10.
  
  Third item, Caption Button. Size is 25.
  
  Fourth item, Message Box. Font size is 8.
  
  Fifth item, Menu. Size is 19. Font size is 8.
  
  Sixth item, Scollbar. Size is 17.

  thanks mayi. tried it. but the desktop icons are still far away spreaded out.

  Icons spread too far away, it's still the same steps, except that you choose Icon Spacing (horizontal and vertical, each is an item by itself) and adjust it.

  not necessary system restore. maybe setting restore will do. i'm kinda suprised XP don't even have it.
