Think about it. Microsoft has been there for decades. Every major empire crumbles at some point of the time. And in my opinion, Microsoft just accelerated its path to death by releasing the poorly executed Vista. During the switch from Windows XP to Windows Vista, it found many of its advanced technical users jumping wagons from Windows XP to the Linux distros. Yes it is just a mere 1% or 2%, but it has started.
Google is the new age warrior with some of the best minds working behind it with fun and fervor. I have heard/read of real Google employees who really enjoy their work and workplace. Its treating its employees well. Way better than Microsoft. The pace at which its growing is also noticeable by any guy you pick off the street. Most known brand name is Google. Its everywhere. And guess what? It doesn't own any OS, yet its so well known. Says quite a lot. One search page to search anything. The word Google has even seeped into our vocabulary! How often have you heard people saying "Have you googled it?", "I was googling when I found this!" or "He's like a google!". This shows the growing good perception of the company among the public which is most important. The same cannot be said for Microsoft though.
So even though Microsoft is the biggest giant right now, soon it will be all over. Google will be the new king. By soon I mean at least a decade or two.
Starting from XP actually, but the introduction of Vista accelerated it.Originally posted by coolgeek84:Its only natural that Google comes out as the winner.

Yep thats true, I've seen some of my uni friends who are "super non IT people" just try out Linux distros for the fun of it and stick with it~!Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:Starting from XP actually, but the introduction of Vista accelerated it.
If one is to check the Linux distributions statistics, some of the distros overnight had suddenly moved up in rankings, due to a lot of people moving over.
There has also been more people contacting support with Linux issues, mostly over installation issues.
So it's not just the technically advanced people moving over, but also some of the less technically advanced.
When XP came out, the complains aren't as much as XP. The most complains were about viruses because XP literally removed lots of security features than the previous NT or 2000 (of which it was based on).Originally posted by chenc:I am pretty sure another "vista" will kill MS.
My new com is perfect except for the vista in it. wish i had choosen xpmediacentre 2005 instead.
Why is ms keep doing this? Xp come out, ppl started to appreciate 98. Vista come out, ppl thought Xp is better in comparison. Bill is going right down the line.
