why cannot set password?

  hello there, i have problems with my winrar. When i compress, i put the set password thingy. but after that i tried to see if there is password set on my achieve but was sad to see that it could be opened like normal folders. what should i do? can list down the steps for me? i have tried entering the password i wanted but i could still open the file.

  Try this:
  
  Right click on the file or folder that you want to compress.
  
  Select Add to archive.
  
  Select the Advanced tab, and click on Set Password
  
  Enter the password you want, re-enter it.
  
  Click OK throughout to apply the settings.

  that was what i tried and after that i open the archive and still its like normal rar file without any pass.

  Try extracting it.
  
  Some files need to be extracted to trigger the password box.

  it works only when you want to open or extract the file.

  This is becasue winRAR will use the entered password as default after you typed a password. For example, you chose 'a' as password. After that all password protected rar file will use 'a' as password.
  
  Just set the password as empty again in winRAR press enter. and now go to pass-protected file again, it should be pass-protected.
