how to reformat my com???

my laptop caught a virus i think...it automatically keys in "XXXXXXXXXXXXX" non-stop...i tried to reformat it by inserting the Windows XP installation CD into the CD-ROM then start the computer, but it did not work.
neither did it work when i tried to run the installation CD after i have loaded Windows.
how to reformat my computer???

Get into BIOS and set the CD as the first boot device.

Ya, it's most likely keyboard problem. My sister's lappy (the one i'm using now till my main comp's fixed) had this once too. Turns out, she ate too much stuff while surfing the web.

sure. when i turn on the computer the computer keeps making an error sound, but as soon as i press F11, the sound stops. When i entered Windows XP, usually when I right click, i will hear the computer making the typing sound but this time another version. Same thing, i pressed F11 and the sound stops. However, sometimes the XXXXXXX just automatically type out itself again...i have checked and there is no problem with my keyboard. i think the computer automatically press XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX one...i reformatted and installed Windows XP again but the issue persists...haizOriginally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:???

Dun just press the "x", try tapping it very hard. Becoz the key can be stuck sometimes. If that doesn't work, then I suggest you try connecting a spare keyboard to ur lappie and disable the onboard keyboard. Then see if the problem exists. With the beeping sound, seems like it really is just a stuck key la.. =) Hope that helps...
