"H or V sync. over range" ??!?!

i bought a new computer, but using an older monitor.
previously i did not use any graphic cards to run the game and though its slow, its still playable. but now with a much more powerful pc and graphic card, whenever i launch the game my monitor blacks out and says "H or V sync. over range". i hear the menu bgm, it sounds smoothly but there is nothing shown on the screen. what is happening?
please, tell me what should i do..please... thank you -
Your monitor can't support the new graphics card... most likely the frequency issue...

May help if u provide your specs to details, especially you old and new graphic card, and that problematic monitor's.

The 2 specs are far cry from each other.
coincidentally, my old desktop is p3 800mhz 320Ram 32 graphics and i just got a E6600 system with 512graphics. maybe i will plug the new pc into my old desktop's CRT now and see what happens. -
I suggest you bring over your CPU to someone who uses a LCD monitor... chances are that your monitor can't support what the graphics card is able to...

aih. and now im told that i have to buy a LCD. might as well hang myself
buy so good de spec but cant use. someone kill me lar now -
tried on mine crt and worked.
pixel over-range is my best guess. maybe u try reseting your display to lower resolutions. -

Or you can try to lower the settings, rather than the default settings that Windows recommend.
Try with somebody's monitor first before buying. -

Basically, he did all. I'm not sure if latest drivers will help, because it concerns the monitor, not the card itself. If the monitor can't handle the settings that the card prefers to, lowering settings will help, but it's more often than not a temporary solution.Originally posted by chenc:Frequency Over range.

thanks for being so helpful, but ive tried it all. as for tweaking the card setting itself, i dont dare to do too much cos im quite a low end user and dont know what im doing to my new pc.
guess i'll be buying a new monitor lar..neeway, i was told that samsung one is RM630, BenQ is 520 or in the range. which u guys recommand ar? weighing both quality, durability and of course, my stomach. (no money eat if sped too much) -
BenQ is cheap but not budget. It does offer products of good quality, matching those from big brandnames. Quality and durability issues, I would say BenQ definitely do not disadvantage you.
Performance wise, if u r not crazy about high end games, a few ms lack in response time and slight less contrast ratios do not matter at all. You won't be able to tell the difference anyway.
So if i were you, and i love to eat so much, I would go for BenQ -

Samsung ar... my impression of it is bad. Nearly all monitor problems that I came across is from Samsung.
My personal preference is Viewsonic, not that cheap, but it lasts long. Have quite a few monitors, they are long lasting. Phillips too, but its standards is like roller coaster. Sometimes good, sometimes bad.
If you are really into gaming, then you will want to get a good one, otherwise, an average one would suffice. -

Ask u sth, how long is considered a good lifespan for monitors. Really not sure, usually throw them out bfore they finish themselves off.
