It will all depends on how well you know your PC. Kaspersky is best for those who don't really know their system well. Those who know their system well, go for NOD32. -

Antivirus will just turn on like usual, if found any virus attack, action will be taken, anybody can use.
I know my system very well, so if I use NOD32, what so special compare to others antivirus? -

NOD32 use more of heuristics than signatures, Kaspersky is the other way round.
Heuristics detection will check for patterns of malicious softwares and flag them. You then decide if it's harmful.
That's why NOD32 is not recommended for those who don't know their system well, especially those who do a lot of tweaking and coding. Anything can trigger the heuristics.
Thankfully for Kaspersky, although it relies on signatures, its detection rates are high, to make up for the lack of heuristics. That means the chance of catching one virus is low, especially for those wild spreading ones.
The latest version of Kaspersky now also has heuristics, but it's still more user-friendly when compared with NOD32. NOD32 is more technical. Get a trial copy and try configuring it you will see the difference. -

today I learned something -
go for kaspersky..i would go for it too..but then have to pay money.. so i just stick with agv free...and spybot search & destroy which is gd enuff for me..

Thats y people, use AVG~! It rocks! Its free, easy and its effective! I haven't got infected in a long long time *touchwood* although I surf lots of pr0n, oops, I mean illegal websites..
And no matter which program u use, the user must be a bit smart.. -_- Else the program doesn't matter much. U will get infected eventually :p -

PC - complete with MS updates, antivirus and firewall.
What I did - connect to the Net to update AV. Then very shiok liao... got the Blaster worm. And I have not even visited any websites. I nearly bang wall...
Either way, nobody would believe what AV I used at that time. It's Norton.
Immediately after the update it's caught and was quarantined. No reboots, nothing happened. Leave me with enough time to clear the Blaster mess and curse at MS to faster release a patch. -
Eh my para is still correct! I said "a bit smart".. You are too smart :p Haha.. The only one I got installed with was some crappy CoolWWWWebSearch thingy.. But I cleared it up in about 1++ hour.. The worst AV, McAfee. Eats resources, detection rates worse than Norton and expensive. Plus, it comes bundled, with either firewall or anti-spyware.
Subscription wise, nothing different from Norton...
Some companies will never have free things! -
i used AVG, but kena a malware attack... found a very good website, jottiscan, performed scans on suspected system files n removed them one by one. this site scans indiv files tt u upload w a list of antivirus softwares like avg, f secure etc. AVG detected none of the infected files tt i uploaded...
i haf now converted to Antivir...
