Laptop battery life fugged up

Ok. My laptop runs 1hr45mins on battery,max performance. Even though I used the maximum battery life scheme, it also shows 1hr45mins. Battery never shows itself fully charged (95%) and worst of all some sites claims 3.5hr.
What is happening ? -
Face it... the battery life would reduce upon usage...
Maximum life of the battery can oly be obtaine if no activities is done on the lappie and that the sound are mute and the light on the lcd switched to the lowst.
My lappie only can survive about 30 mins now without AC source...

dbowie, whats your laptop processor? Is it a Pentium M processor?
There are a lot of factors which can reduce power usage and increase battery life.
I have a Pentium M 1.3Ghz laptop and it can and did last for 2hr 45min before. Are you running ur cpu fan constantly? Its not necessary to do so. You can dim your LCD and shut it off completely too when you are even away for 5 to 10 mins from laptop. Listening to mp3s of course will also eat up ur battery faster.
And don't always plug it in and leave it running on AC power all the time. It isn't good at all for the battery. You have to periodically let it COMPLETELY discharge. I have been using my laptop with the same battery for over 4 years now. It still runs for almost 3 hours solid. -
