Free burning software

  Anyone can recommend any free program similar to Nero?

  if we are just burning normal files into CD-R (eg. to Backup) then do we need to use CD burning software?
  
  i normally drap and drop the files into the CD drive F:\, place empty CD and start.
  
  or better to use software?

  as mentioned by manyu882...I dont find XP's burning function reliable...anyway I do burn ISO images once in a while...so an external burning software works better for me.
