Connection Help!

Hi guys, I'm experiencing 3 problems. Btw, I'm using Starhub MOL Premium and Linksys Router WRT54G.
1: My laptop will show "limited or no connectivity" most of the time when I connect my laptop to my modem via ethernet cable. (without passing thru router) Is there something wrong somewhere - ISP, Modem, Cable, Laptop?
2: I realised when I'm using my wireless to connect to Internet, the speed drops drastically. Ard x4 drop in dl speed.
Without using router (direct connection to modem)
My speed is around 2000+ and upload is around 300+ when I'm connected to internet through my router.
My router is placed directly infornt of my laptop and I still achieved such low speed.
Can anyone guide me on this?
3. I've realised just now that there's this connection called "Internet Connection" under my "Internet Gateway".
Previously I do not have this connection. All I had previously was my LAN, my Wireless, my Hamachi and 1394 Connection.
Is this "Internet Connection" harmful? A sign of hacker?
I've disabled it and I cant enable it back again. Somehow I think my wireless gone bonkers and cannot went into internet although my laptop shows it's still connected!
I need help on these 3 problems and it's quite urgent. Thanks everyone for ur help.

err..that doesnt really answer my question. LoL. Anyway, i was using my cable to connect to internet to post my problem.

1. Need to install drivers. Check the modem brand and model and go to the manufacturer's site to download the drivers if you have lost the CD. After installing, restart the PC.
2. The limitation of wireless is speed. For wired connections, say the maximum speed transferring by cable is 100Mbps, you will get that. For wireless, no. At any one time, the stated bandwidth is always chopped into half. Say the maximum is 54Mbps, the best you get is 27Mbps. Coupled with reality, it can drop to a few megabits per second.
3. That's the Internet Connection Gateway. If you are using a modem, this will show up. Usually when this shows up, you might have problems with connections. Disabling it and enabling it will sometimes solve the problem, but most of the time this doesn't happen. This has to disappear before you can use the Net properly. -
ok..i can understand the first 2 solutions. But for the 3rd one, I'm still not very sure about it.
Right now, I'm connected through the net through a wireless. Has nothing wrong accessing the net. But, the internet gateway is still there.
Anyway last time before I bought my router, i was using direct connection to the modem and there wasn't any "internet gateway". It only showed up after I used my wireless router.
I tried to disable and enable it. Nothing goes wrong for the moment..so just leave it as it is?

Yeah... it has no harm. Windows probably detect you are sharing internet between the different PCs, which explain the gateway.
