Need help pls!! WinXp problem with DvD Drive

  How do I get my Sony DVDRW drive to work? The model is DRU-830A and I installed the driver succesfully but it can't read the cd that I put in.
  
  The minimum requirement is Windows XP SP2...but I don't have SP2 so how? Anyway to get around this? Or maybe I connect the drive wrongly?

  I had that problem with my pioneer dvd writer
  
  cant read for fcuk
  
  turns out, the drive was faulty so send it back to pioneer for a replacement

  It say my winxp key wrong, and my computer warranty bought from sim lim square over already. I can't return and say he gave me wrong key.

  I think the drive is faulty. Already installed sp2 and still can't read. I took it down to the shop somehow they can make it work...but it READS AT A CRAWL on their 3.0 gighertz pc. Im not gonna buy from them ever again.
