Yes. i think so, that's what i always doOriginally posted by Reveille:Do I just plug out the old RAM and plug in the new ones?
ur com how old le? how come only got 2 slots?Originally posted by Reveille:I ran the crucial.com system scanner and found that I have 2 X DDR2 PC2-4100.
My motherboard "supports up to two DDR2 devices" and "supports DDR2-400/533". (according to the manual)
So I currently have 1GB of RAM.
Say if I want to upgrade to a total of 2GB, I guess I would have to get two sticks of 1GB? What type/brand/model should I get and how much would it cost?
Also, how do I install them? Do I just plug out the old RAM and plug in the new ones? Is there any software stuff I have to do? Or is it just all physical?
Haha, a lot of questions, but thanks for any help!
Ok I am confused. My manual tells me this:Originally posted by wishboy:ur com how old le? how come only got 2 slots?
Supports DDr2-400/533Either DDR2 400 or DDR2 533

Dual channel must have same specs for RAM.Originally posted by the_unknown:i dun think they will be.
i guess i'll just add 1GB, given that there are diff opinions. Are there any difference in the below setups?
a) 1x256MB + 2x512MB
b) 1x256MB + 1x1GB
i read that to enable dual channel, ram have to be in pairs. So does the below setups allow it?
a) 4x256mb
b) 2x256mb + 2x512mb
sorry for asking so many qns.
