  inherited a inspire 7900 speaker from my fren.
  
  now the prob is, when i put my subwoofer under my desk, it doesnt sound good. i noe subwoofer shld be placed somewhere whereby there is enough space for the deep sound to go out.
  
  any suggestion how to place it?

  Floor. But seriously that isn't the best idea. You will feel "earthquake" if the music is loud enough.

  my hse' floor is granite floor. sure can tahan one.

  I put mine on computer table, because my family complains of "earthquakes".

  mY subwoofer is the one beside the left tall tall JBL speaker....
  
  i using 12" subwoofer, this one is Infinity dunno wad model from harmon kardon,
  
  i have another one is infinity 12" oso, infinity subwoofer is good for low bass frequency respond, i tried the subwoofer test song, it responded at 20hz..veri good
  
  If you notice, i put mine in a 'corner' wid things beside it, it is not the proper place, if u like bass like me, u shld put the woofer in a corner, so the bass will reflect, the volume of the woofer can be adjusted, as well as the crossover frequency.
  
  Mine subwoofer onli cost aroud $400+ to $600+ the bass is still quite good, enough for me to get complain from neighbour
  
  For my subwoofer, i cannot put it on the desk, if you see most of the subwoofers, it is placed on the floor. u shld get a high end, it onli cost above $800 or more.....

  place some weight on top of you subwoofer, like 2 yellow pages book and tell me if they is any difference

  it is use to reduce vibration.
  
  my subwoofer uses solidboard instead MDF(medium density Fibre) board, so mine will not vibrate w/o anything on top
