300W is seriously not enough for that specs. At least a 400W, and I don't guarantee that it will run.Originally posted by AndrewPKYap:OK get Processor:
"With Intel® Core™2 Duo processor, you'll experience revolutionary performance, unbelievable system responsiveness, and energy-efficiency second to none. And, you won't have to slow down for virus scan, multiple compute intensive programs, or multimedia downloads—these desktop processors are up to 40 percent faster with improved energy-efficiency.¹"
Main board:
Gigabyte or MSI (Sound/Eternet/Graphics on board)
RAM at least 1 gig
Hard Disk: 160 gig SATA
Sony DVD Drive (Read / Write)
Casing - look at the power supply unit... at least 300Watts
That's it...
wah... at least 400W ah? hmmmm... more the merrier of course but overkill or not?Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:300W is seriously not enough for that specs. At least a 400W, and I don't guarantee that it will run.
Looking at the specs... no. But well, if one is going to try 300W... I don't think it's able to run.Originally posted by AndrewPKYap:wah... at least 400W ah? hmmmm... more the merrier of course but overkill or not?

1. A lot of applications are still optimized for 32-bit platforms and single core CPUs, which is why there isn't any improvements. Between 2005 and 2007, I've seen a great improvement for 32-bit programs on single core CPU. They no longer use as much resources or have other sort of bugs which eats resources.Originally posted by ispyyy:I will advise my friend to buy got brand PC. Because :-
1) PC have reached to a saturated technology liao... No matter, how much u improve... the speed is not going to be much difference depends on application. Errr for normal use application, it is not going to be much difference unless there is a break through in new technology lah...
2) Furthermore nowadays, the price of PC have slashed till unbelievable compared few years ago... Hence, DIY yr own PC does not really save much if yr salary belongs to middle grp income...
3) Brand PC also looks nicer when people visit yr house. The style of tat brand PC is trendy
4) If his PC got problem, I can direct his problem to Dell, HP or blah blah... No need to trouble myself to help him
I will choose to DIY my own PC. Because :-
I am the stubborn type... I have been DIY my own PC for more than 10 yrs liao... Actually, I m tempted to buy brand PC 1 but in the end I choose my pride as an engineer over temptation... ><

Say you need $2500 for the state of the art system (Core2 [b]3.5mhz for example) but you spend $1200 for a Dual core 2.5mhz.
