http://www.pardus.org.tr/eng/index.htmlA Linux distro from Turkey. The desktop is KDE.
Installation took quite some time, more than an hour. Maybe because my machine is old. A P3 with 256MB of RAM. And it also installed quite a few rubbish programs that's probably not needed (like Samba)... so took up quite some time.
Booting up time wise, fast enough, considering that it's using KDE.
For a list of programs that comes with Pardus, see here:
http://distrowatch.com/table.php?distribution=pardusAfter installation and rebooting, you will get a setup screen. Very similar to Windows. My only problem was getting my network up. Upon entering the network key for my wireless, it hung my machine.

Forced reboot.
It uses a package management system called PiSi (ugly name... but never mind). Simple to use, fast also. Similar to Windows Add/Remove Programs.
Here's some screenshots. Overall, hardware detection is great. It detects my wireless card, but failed to set up. Anything I do fails to get it up also. Oh well, back to wires.

The last image is I managed to capture before the setting up of network hangs my machine... the setup never appeared after it hangs... but OS still workable. Whatever. Those familiar with Debian-based systems will find this OS pretty easy to use.
First setup screen on rebooting:

Second setup screen:

The default desktop (very ugly, to change, see next screenshot):

Changing the default desktop:

The Test Style button will immediately apply the changes, as you can see in screenshot 4. My window changed.

Again, the Test Wallpaper will immediately change your wallpaper.

One word of advice before installing: Read the first screen that pops up. If you don't, you are going to end up with a Turkish system which I can't revert. You need to hire someone who understands Turkish to revert it to English or some language that you understand.
Or the best way, restart PC and try again.

Dual booting is the same... please install Windows before installing Linux. And don't format the NTFS partition. It stated very clearly when you start installing the OS.
