Wat is the advantage of adding a 2nd harddisk drive??

im planning to upgrade my hdd.Then wat is the advantage of adding a 2nd hdd for a desktop then just replacing the main hdd with a bigger capacity one??
then im currently using the ide ata 100
whats the difference between ata 133 and ata 100?? can my pc fit ata 133 is i currently using a ata100 hdd?? -

for me i add a 2nd hdd is for all my storages
the main hdd is mainly for the os i'm using
jic if there's any problem due to systerm crash or virus i just simplily reformat my first hdd
main hdd - 40 gig
2nd hdd - 120 gig
3rd hdd - 200 gig

If can't support, you might need to get another card to plug into your expansion slots.
If you retain your old hdd as main drive with OS, then you don't have to reinstall all your OS and other softwares that was in it.
If you install OS into new hdd, the speed will be faster. -
The advantage is obvious. If the main hard disk crashed, you have your backups in the other hard disk, provided you back up regularly. Extra storage space is also another advantage. If your files are huge, you will benefit from it.
As for the ATA133 and ATA100, it will all depend on your hardware.
