SATA and Win XP compatibility

  ok i have a Acer Aspire 4710 Laptop. and i am currently using Windows Vista. I have downgrading to Win Xp. Do i need any softwares or any special setting for my laptop to support SATA hard disk when i format the computer to XP?

  SATA is hardware-related, and is supported, otherwise you can't boot up. However, for other features, you need the extra drivers provided by manufacturers.

  i know the link you provided is not usable. There is another one provided in the CD provided by ACER. but it requires a very long process. And i am not using 2 OS hence not a dual boot =)

  It depends on your motherboard itself. One example is RAID. RAID is not provided automatically by Windows, but by motherboard manufacturers if it supports. The drivers are downloadable from their websites.

  ya thats why ...........so if the motherboards comes with SATA it will support SATA hard disk but it would not have its special features?

  It wouldn't have. At the most, Windows only provide the drivers so the hard disk will work, which is a must anyway, otherwise, you can't boot up a PC.

  under support and drivers..u can find drivers for ure hardware there too...they got a whole list for ure model
