borrow your friend's portable hard disk. or use thumbdrive lor.

then use some program which I've forgotten the name -
get both on9,

To tell, put the two extreme ends side by side and compare.
Notice any difference between these two ends?
Look carefully at pins 1, 2, 3, 6. -
wow, that means must really scrutinise when buying the cables.
Does it work if i plug it between a Mac laptop and a PC laptop? -
Never try before, but should be able to, since they are all network cards and no special/propriety networking protocols are used.

Pillow, there's two kinds of network cables, namely the cross cable (full name crossover cable) and the straight cable.
Straight cables are used for communication between a PC/laptop and a router, switch or hub.
Cross cables are used for direct communications between one PC to another PC. One laptop to another laptop or one PC to another laptop use a cross cable as well.
There's also another situation where one will use a crossover cable, but that's not important. Network/security administrators will know.
