Im a indian too but on the part that active foto and alif computers stinks, i agree. Btw active foto and alif computers is an indian muslim shop.. Always keep one thing in mind.. prostitution exists in every country or the world.. that doesent make the whole world prostitutes does it? Btw both active foto and alif are on the 4th floor of sim lim square side by side.. and active foto also has another shop one of the corner on 4th floor.
I was almost slaughtered at alif computers once.. i wanted to buy a laptop.. went to their shop.. they had a number of laptops on display.. i selected the model i liked.. i told the salesman i wanna buy that particular laptop.. he asked me to head over from alif computers to active foto's other outlet which is located in one of the corners of 4th floor.
the salesman told me to wait there while he brings the laptop.. so i waited.. it took vry long.. i suspected smth was nt right.. after 15 mins the guy came.. opened the box and took out the laptop.. switched it on and guess what.. it looked like it had been used..
i asked the guy if it was a display set he was selling me and the guy said no. luckily i checked throughly and found tamil mp3 songs in my documents.. i flared up.. screwed the guy.. and the boss came.. he tried to calm me down tellin me that the salesman gave me the wrong set.. luckily i did not made a payment yet.. so ppl remember.. what ever you buy, always test..
aniwayz after an hour i went to have my lunch at a coffee shop on the 2nd floor.. i saw the same salesman there again.. he was buying drink.. he came up to me and apologised.. he said.. "i find it very difficult to cheat ppl like that but its the instructions given to me by my boss.. he doesent care about his staff's well being and cares more about his sales and money.. we do this very often.. when we have cleared all our laptops for that particular model our store room, we will wipe up the display set, pack it nicely and sell it to the customers"
he also told me some of their display sets are used to listen songs in the shop and is switched on from morning till night.. and told me that their kingston memory cards which doesent come in sealed packing are often used to transfer data around from laptops to laptops and packed nicely to be sold after that.
after this, i felt really sad for the salesman.. they make him do this kinda stuff.. the boss hides like a coward and makes his salesman do the dirty job.. when the customers not happy, the boss blames it on the salesman and the poor guy has to keep quiet for the sake of his rice bowl..(Boss: "salesman gave you the wrong set")..
active foto has earned quite a reputation in sim lim for all sorta bad stuff.. once again.. i cant be a racist as ima indian too and i know how bad active foto and alif computers are.. itz painful if you're from a poor background.. you have been saving $200 a mth to buy your dream laptop which turns out to be second hand..
If possible, ppl pls spread the word.. tell ppl to stay away from this shop.. and yea.. any representitive on this forum or aniwhere aint happy with me posting this about active foto, send me a PM.. try me.. remember the NKF case.. they had to produce alot of stuff in court.. all their accounts etc etc.. oh yea i also heard CASE is sick and tired of hearing complaints about active foto but needs more facts and evidence before they can blast this guys..
PPL BE VIGILANT.. dont let ppl cheat you of your hard earned money just like that.. -

many shops do that, then they take a new set to replace the display set they sold and wala! new computers -

i neber go there buy before. their stuff not dat cheap anyways. all the shops there u gotta be careful one, including so called chinese shops like atf and song brothers.

juz dun go Sim Lim Square buy lor..
if u think u can get cheap stuffs there, then u also can get cheap + low quality stuff.
If I were to buy laptop, I will go to Sony, not places like Sim Lim Square or Funan IT Mall. -
every shop is like that de... if they dun have a consignment set then they willl bring their stocks and display. juz that need to see who is the one packing onli. some pack until very swee one. some even open the box from below rather than on top cos is not so obvious.

why didnt you go to CASH on the 5th floor, they are one of the better shops.

I have some good experience with PA mart, if buying laptop, can consider that shop.
If buying accessories, can consider CASH, last time service is very good, not like better and better business, standard drop already. But still good. -
bugger, bought a second hand phone from hardwarezone that can't be charged. turns out the seller is working for a shop in sim lim. damn!
