Qn about uninstalling antivirus and installing new antivirus

  For me, my laptop has a norton antivirus pre installed n i think that the proj is somehow corrupted or spoiled. How can a full antivirus scan last about 5mins when usually it takes about an hr?
  
  my qn is if i were to uninstall a antivirus proj, will quaratined files and deleted files be set free/released?
  
  i m planning to use AVG free edition as my antivirus.
  
  wad should i do to uninstall a antivirus proj safely ?

  During the uninstall, it may prompt you to keep or delete those files. If you want to keep them, tell it to keep. Otherwise, you can delete them.
  
  If it doesn't prompt, cancel the uninstallation, move the quarantined files to another folder.

  hmmm ok but if i keep those files, if i install a new antivirus will my lappie crash?
  
  i read that if u didnt completely remove a antivirus n install a new one, the comp will crash?

  The chances are actually 50-50... for Norton, if you noticed it lurking around your PC... then try the Norton Removal Tool... see the Freeware stickies.
