Here are the specs, need some advise on the upgrades

> Chipset : Intel i815E/EP
> Processor : Intel Pentium III EB @ 933 MHz
> Physical Memory : 256 MB
> Video Card : Nvidia Corp GeForce2 GTS/PRO [NV15]
> Hard Disk : 80 GB
> CD-Rom Drive : LITEON CD-ROM
> DVD-Rom Drive : CdRom Device
> Monitor Type : 15 inches
> Network Card : Realtek Semiconductor RT8139 (A/B/C/810x/813x/C+) Fast Ethernet Adapter
> Operating System : Microsoft Windows XP Professional 5.01.2600 Service Pack 2
My current computer cant support a game with background programs: msn, download program, nod32 AV -

After upgrading, remember to call up MS because your OS will automatically invalidate itself. MS doesn't recognize your hardware.
This only applies if your OS is not a pirated copy. -
i suggest you can take this chance to buy a new comp, either DIY or those comp that comes with a set. You should go for intel core 2 dual processer with at least 2gb ram, then at least 19 inch lcd monitor (those widescreen type), at least 160 gb harddisk. for graphic card i not too sure

DIY -> Do It Yourself
aka custom-made computers. You choose the components you like and the uncle with that geeky specs will assemble it for you. Warranty are covered individually, usually covered by the retailer or the distributor, and the length of warranty varies with each component. If I'm not mistaken, they generally cost a little more than Dell pre-made comps, but the main benefits are, since warranty cover individual parts instead of the computer as a whole, warranties don't void when you upgrade your computer. Another would be that you choose what components you want to be in your computer. -

But the parts u buy are from reputable manifactorer.the parts are cover by the manifactorer mah..support got fre type, u can buy wat 3 years on site package...the shop ppl go to your home to solve your problem..
Go sim lim square, take some papers given out by the aunties standing at the escalator,see which price u wan to start with...
**then see the small word under each package >uograde to wat ,wat etc..
then count see ur budget can match the $$ offered after those upograde offers or not..
i personelly think NOW, need at least the 2gig ram wat 800fsb>core 2 dour processor, speed must at least 2ghz...
Grapic card use normal de (now is wat 7300 normal) ..lik tat i think can liao lor.unless u wan play those very grapic intensive games lor.
EDITED, jus to add in, last week, my friend jus got a set for bout $1350 there..wat parts used i dunno, only know got

DIY computer - means you built it yourself or you choose the parts of a PC yourself and get someone to build for you.
It does come with warranty and support, but in bits and pieces. That means, hard disk support in one company, motherboard support in another, etc. How long that warranty and support will last, will all be listed in the warranty card itself.
Typically, a hard disk warranty lasts anything from 1 year to 5 years, though there are a few that are slightly longer.
Motheboard warranty is around 1 to 3 years, hardly longer than this.
CD/DVD drive warranty is around 1 year.
Graphics card warranty is also 1 year.
Keyboard/mouse is up to the individual company's decision.
Monitor warranty is anything from 1 year to 3 years.
You also have to differentiate between the different types of support, some are on-site (meaning they go to your house to service), some you have to carry it yourself to the service centre.
All terms and conditions are listed in all the warranty cards. You have to read carefully, and in some cases, sent them to the company in question. -

Judging by your current computer specs, the only thing which is still 'salvagable' for the upgrade is your IDE Harddisk. Upgrading a PIII to recent computer technologies is equivalent to changing the entire computer. -
computer technology advance too fast

The only thing that you might wish to retain is the IDE Harddisk which you may add on to your new system. Other than that, the existing set-up isn't worth much given today quick pace of IT in society.
