Help with Vista!

  i uninstalled the free norton antivirus that came with the computer and installed mcafee internet suite 2007. BIG MISTAKE. now it will hang right after the welcome screen with an error -> explorer.exe - Application Error
  
  "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005). Click OK to terminate the application."
  
  After i click okay nth happens and it just displays the wallpaper. can someone help?

  Open Task Manager (press Ctrl + Shift + Esc or Ctrl + Alt + Del).
  
  Click on File > New Task (Run...) and type in explorer.exe
  
  The instructions is for XP and 2000. If whatever part that is not the same, figure out something similar.

  still cannot leh, it just keeps showing the error message. mcafee internet suite 07 is not compatible with vista, i didn't know that and went ahead to install.
  
  now i can only play around with task manager, any other suggestions?

  Download this tool and try to remove McAfee.

  see if can load in safe mode... then system restore..

  Only the latest version is. The others are not.

  Haven't. I postponed it again. Until SP1 comes out.

  very easy de..
  
  the mcafee you got is not vista compatible. go to the mcafee webby and download the latest patch for vista the can already.
  
  uninstall your norton 1st the download the patch then insert the cd as requested and thats it.
  
  simple.

  Did u try right clicking the program and selecting run in Window XP SP2?

  okay so i have resolved the problem and decided to install kaspersky internet security 7 instead. everything works fine now except for the long boot time.
  
  what happens now is that after i enter my password, the welcome screen is displayed for a while, after a while a black screen appears and i have to wait for around 1-2 mins before the desktop is shown. after which the programs and sidebar will slowly load.
  
  i've searched around on the internet but to no avail, can someone advise? thanks.

  Try getting more RAM. Kaspersky probably ate too much resources.

  er i have 2GB, not enough meh? the status bar states the ram usage did not exceed 50%.

  hey kaspersky is good on vista leh
  i find it superb
  
  it takes up abit of my sys resource tho but its awesome loh
  
  2gb = dwm kaspersky azureus hehe.
