  MS servers are not down. Probably something is corrupted. Try this:
  
  1. Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs
  
  2. Find MSN Messenger. If there's a button called Change/Remove, click on that and select Repair. If there's only a Remove button, click on the Click here for support information and click on Repair.
