Just bought a 2.5" 60GB Hitachi external HDD and i need to format it 1st...
I connected it via the 2.0 USB cable supplied...it appears in "Safely Remove Hardware" as another drive, but however when i go into "My Computer", i do not see my drive...
Apparently Win XP can't detect my new external HDD...I tried going into
"Control Panel"--->"Administrative Tools"--->
"Computer Management"--->"Disk Management" to access it from there but it still doesn't show up...
My external HDD can be seen in "Device Manager" but there is a yellow question mark indicating that it is an "Unknown USB device"...in fact the drivers were automatically installed upon connecting it to my pc...the only thing left is to format it for use...
Is there any other way of formatting my external HDD? How can i enable Win XP to detect it? Would appreciate if any kind soul can advice me...thx!
Tried going to Hitachi website to see if there are any extra drivers that you need to download and install?
go to disk managment click on the drive to active
now u able to choose to partition or format
all done.
