It's another Office suite, based on the open-sourced Open Office by IBM.
This is perhaps the 4th competitor against MS Office.
Like Open Office, it's FOC.

I dunno about U guys...but McAfee doesnt seem to like something about the download...maybe the Download Director thingy is causing the problem.
I am continuing the download and see if there are any more popups.

Too sensitive, perhaps. At least it shows that McAfee is working.

Lotus Symphony needs Java to be installed... otherwise, each time you open it, it will throw out thousands of Java programming errors.
It will still run though... (just create a new document) but with some errors.
As it's written in Java... expect it to have some lags.
On my P3 and 300++ MB of RAM, it takes about 3 minutes to start up properly. Slower than MS Office and Open Office.
Looks wise, it's a cross between MS Office and Open Office.

A very big difference between MS Office, Open Office and Symphony is the usage of tabs. No longer new documents open in a new window.

ok...my very simple take on the software...
The Download Manger is working fine(except for the malware alert)...the SFX unzipping had a problem...it hanged when the unzipping was done....had to close the command line window myself...
the unzipping came up with 2 files....Setup and UpdateSite.zip....run the setup and the installation process starts...
installation itself is fine....I just tried the Lotus Symphony Documents...can refer to mayi's post on how it looks like....There is a "Export as pdf" option in the "File" menu...for saving the files...if U still want MS file format...U can save as Word 97/2000/XP doc or dot format or rtf format....
I havent really explored the rest of it so I guess I'll stop here...All in all...I think I prefer Lotus Symphony than OpenOffice...somehow OpenOffice gives me a headache
