Apple notebook

I intend to buy an apple notebook. I'm a IT idiot, so please bear with me.
My course actually don require apple notebook, those fujitsu, IBM will do. However, i heard that apple do not kena virus easily cause they are running on a different system. Is this true?
If i do purchase, can the system in the apple notebook support the other software that is required in my course like Microsoft Office XP, Visual Basics, Visual C++, Visual J++, Macromedia Dreamweaver, Macromedia Flash, Macromedia Fireworks, Macromedia Freehand, Scientific Notebook, and anti-virus software?

from the software i read...erm some can be use for mac some cannot..
you have to check if they work for MAC.
but many softwares don't work for mac lah... -
Oh, and another one, is there any difference between the operating system in apple as compared to other notebook brand? Is there any advantages or disadvantages in the OS that apple is using?

just buy a normal windows vista notebook.

Current Macbooks can run almost all OSs.
So you can run Windows, Linux and OS X in the same lappy. -
har? my course no need software engineering leh. Mine is just the usual software applicance. Im in business studies btw, so no need very sophisticated use of any cheem software. Mac doesn't viruses easily because not many people are using Mac. If ever Mac has 90% of the world using it, then most likely it will face the same problem as Windows now.
Since UNIX by default doesn't allow users to run as administrator, the risk of getting a virus is greatly reduced.
There's a Mac version of Office XP, Macromedia. Mac Antivirus software are specialized... I know none.
As for Scientific Notebook and Visual Studio... there's no Mac version. Not that I know of.
If you need them... you need to install Windows through Boot Camp. -

Asus...
Gigabyte...
My advice is not to try Panasonic and Toshiba... -
Macs are extremely good for video and audio - inclined ppl...programming.,..fat chance..
