# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host
127.0.0.1 localhost
I am using AVG free antivirus,ad aware 2007 and windows firewall.

Do you use a proxy? If yes, disable the proxy.
Also, try this:
1. Start Microsoft Internet Explorer.
2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
3. Click the Security tab, and then click Trusted Sites.
4. Click Sites, and then click to clear the Require server verification ( https: ) for all sites in this zone check box.
5. In the Add this Web site to the zone box, type the following addresses, clicking Add after you type each address:
http://update.microsoft.com
http://download.windowsupdate.microsoft.com
6. Click OK two times to apply the settings.
7. Close and open Internet Explorer and try the Windows Update site again.
Sounds like it's a problem with the network as your error is a network-related error.Originally posted by Jerry2308:Yup,did that already but still cannot..Argh!I am going mad.
Funny thing is,i have two desktop using a wireless router but through network cables and one laptop using the wireless.
And all three now has got the same problem.Wonder could it be something wrong with the network?
Before i bought this new computer,i am only using one desktop wired to the wireless router and the laptop using wireless.
