Notebook RAM upgrade

Hi Bro/sis,
I just bought myself a Acer Aspire 4520 Notebook.

But mine is with 160gb hard disk and 1GB RAM and comes preloaded with Windows Vista Premium.
Problem is its very very slow and was thinking to upgrade my RAM.
Mine is 1gb of RAM but graphic card took up about 300+mb of the RAM thus remaining only 700mb RAM.
Is there anyway i can reduce the sharing of the video card RAM?
How do i check whether my RAM is DDR2 533 or DDR2 667?
Also,how do i remove the RAM to install the new RAM if i buy? -
You just bought it. Bring it to Acer and ask them for upgrade or else you risk voiding warranty.

Bring your laptop to Simlim and change the RAM. They will identify it for you.
Acer has already make it known that the seal that seals the compartment of RAM slot is to ensure that the laptop is really from Acer. Nothing else more. You can tear it out and replace your RAM inside.
Well, thats because I did that to my laptop and they say "no problem, waranty does not count this way! Just that whatever fault it is got to do with your RAM in future we will not take responsibility" -
This will be irresponsible. We fix things, not break them.

No u wont. i went to ask the servicing engineer about the void warrenty sticker( when i tot that he forgot to replace the sticker when the hard disk bay had been opened by them). he say that the sticker is use to ensure that no one has touched the internal component during shipping to singapore.Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:You just bought it. They can reject... although I don't think most reject. One even open right in front of the technician... the technician also close one eye. -
if i have two ram slots on my comp and they both used up by two 512mb ones, and i want to upgrade to 2gb, is there a way i can trade in or something? so i won't waste the two 512 ones which i don't need?

My friend was telling me that even with 2gb of RAM,running vista is still very slow.
Was thinking,maybe i will reinstall windows xp on this laptop.
But in future if i wana install back to windows vista with the original CD key provided with my laptop,is it ok?
Is it advisable or shd i just stick to buying additional 1gb ram and stick with vista? -

haha no lah,that time went to dont know comex or some it show acer giving free upgrade ram.. saw them on the spot open your laptop and slot in another
ram.so wondering what if they give lame excuse that you broke the seal on your own
(then no shi baibai void warranty by them)

I call up acer.They say they dont have the drivers for my notbook for Windows XP so i cant downgrade.
They adviced me to upgrade the RAM if i want but got to let them do it if not it will void the warranty. -
