Retrieving data from windows 3.1 to windows XP

I am doing data migration for my client and this is the first time i encounter this. my client is using windows 3.1 and i have to extract the necessary datas to be used in windows XP and i'm not sure how can i start to do that. the windows 3.1 machine doesn't have USB ports and only serial and parallel ports and i knows the system does not support plug and play.
Anyone knows how do i solve this? -
Your best bet - 3.5" floppy disks.

Anyway, I assume it is using a 3.5" hard disk drive. You can try taking it out and fit it into an external HDD case for data transfer.
And keep your diskettes well - they may worth thousands several decades later, lol. -
5.25" who still have? That's also another good idea as well. Or use the slightly thicker than 3.5" floppy. It has bigger storage. Can't recall its name now.

take out the hard disk... if it is IDE, (and it should be) from the Win 3.1 comp and install the hard disk inside the new comp...
