Cheap & good internal DVD writer in Funan/SLS?

Hi all,
What is the best (most reliable; worth the money for its functions) internal DVD writer in SLS / funan?
Where can I get the best price? (shop + price)
My whole computer set rather old, at least 7YO so still using IDE cable. I want to buy an IDE internal writer. [or should I just buy an external burner?]
Can advise on what speed is best for best quality (sound and image) to burn avi files direct into data discs without converting?Pls correct me if I'm mistaken, but I think a faster write speed eg 24X would mean more errors in burning (too much data transferred too fast), fast heating up in CPU, and an extremely 'noisy' burner?
Just bought a new divx player to play the avi files!! Happy. But now no burner cos I couldn't find one good one and dunno how to see the specs...
n00b sorry please advise!!
