chemical bonding is extremely important. It is the foundation on which your a level chemistry "house" stands or falls
Actually for A level chemistry I think there's a bit more to chem bonding.
Organic Chemistry: Know thy functional groups and mechanisms well and you can hardly go wrong with org chem. For stereochemistry can always use 4 pens to spot optical isomers.
Physical Chemistry: Being able to think in terms of physical equations helps. Knowing how to draw energy cycles will be extremely beneficial.
Inorganic Chemistry: The worst of the 3 but luckily has the lowest weightage (Org:Inorg

hy = 5:2:5). Know the general trends but there are always exceptions which can only be resolved by pure memorising. Chem bonding will be nice here esp for trends of boiling points, melting points, solubility, acidity etc.
