Must be formal, because it will be published.

Checkpoint NGX R60 Firewall. And I know nothing about hardware firewalls. Don't know where to dig for comparisons.Originally posted by eagle:It would be good if you tell us what product you are going to review.

A firewall that's part of a router.Originally posted by 105090:the (product) is ??? company's latest addition in the fight against spyware, virus etc.. On first look, the (product) looks...............................
btw, whats hardware firewall?![]()
Compared to software firewall, hardware firewalls are physical add-ons to defend a server system from infection and spyware.Originally posted by 105090:the (product) is ??? company's latest addition in the fight against spyware, virus etc.. Good idea for a start, next you must start listing the firewall strenghts against intrusions.Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:A firewall that's part of a router.
Hmm... I will just copy this introduction and add rubbish into it.![]()
I would add on a more technical way of definingOriginally posted by Herzog_Zwei:Compared to software firewall, hardware firewalls are physical add-ons to defend a server system from infection and spyware.
How about those without the IT background grading it?Originally posted by eagle:I would add on a more technical way of defining
According to the OSI layers, namely (from 7th to 1st),
application layer
presentation layer
session layer
transport layer
network layer
data-link layer
physical layer
Hardware firewalls should be at the physical/data-link/network layer I guess (Not so sure, forgot liao...)
while software firewalls will be at the application layer
I can't find a decent review on it. Most reviews are how-tos, which involve some complicated setup.Originally posted by eagle:how easy is it to configure?
would you need it?
What comes bundled with it? The router... etc...
Then google for more reviews for this particular product... There may be lots of reviews for you to pick and choose
The way this review is being written, I'm afraid it will go so technical that it's not suitable for publishing to our average users out there.Originally posted by Herzog_Zwei:Good idea for a start, next you must start listing the firewall strenghts against intrusions.
Very technical liao, by the time I finish, I can publish a book on this, including some basic networking stuffs, firewall technologies, comparison and why it's recommended, why it's not bla bla bla.Originally posted by eagle:I would add on a more technical way of defining
