was wondering why is there a need to wash calcium carbonate with deionized water??

hmm not sure but i think its to remove any impurities in it as calcium carbonate is insoluble.

so that it won't affect the result of the experiment.

I presume TS means the washing done after filtering out calcium carbonate at the filter paper. When you filter it out, impurities may remain from the chemical solutions you have just used... By washing it, you will remove these impurities because they were soluble in the first place. -
