censorship can be a boon or a bane
bane: no creative freedom
boon: restricts potentially sensitive issues( e.g. satanic verses which caused riots in some countries)

why don't you connect the Odex mess now with censorship?
it's because the Media Destruction Authority here causes problems with those shipping to singapore with their incessant and paranoid need to censor everything, that some merchants refuse to ship to singapore...
now, with the lack of access to stuff, Odex is able to gain some kind of monopoly here and then financially sodomise the anime fans here...
