Yep. 2002 de mock paper 1.Originally posted by oOprinceOo:u doing revision paper frm another sku [ bvss]?
So mah fan for whatOriginally posted by Xephone_xenon:Okay i got a bloody impossible question right here.
I dunnoe if there is a answer for it, but its printed as question 3b on my maths paper 1.
Q) Find the smallest number if divided by 7,9 and 15 which leaves a remainder of 3.
So in algebra is
7a+3=x
9b+3=x
15c+3=x???
I tried to solve with simultaneous equation also cannot.
Like impossible to do, no such number.
ehOriginally posted by Xephone_xenon:Q) Write down the next two terms.
7/8,2/3,1/2,4/11,1/4, ___ ___.
I simplified the whole thing liao.
Its 231/264,198/264,132,264,96/164,66/264.
In decimals 0.875,0.75,0.5,0.36363636363~,0.25.
Can see a definate pattern?
Oh god, i am noob, nvr think of it.Originally posted by eagle:So mah fan for what
Find LCM of 7, 9 and 15, then add 3 lor
Answer: 318?
I dont have answer sheet lehOriginally posted by eagle:eh
are the answers
0, 1/14 ?
they are from secondary school leiz, not JC leiz. trying to show off ur GC skills is it.. =POriginally posted by unclebutcher:you can use rref
i talk c0ck only lahhhhOriginally posted by akinos:they are from secondary school leiz, not JC leiz. trying to show off ur GC skills is it.. =P
hmm, I think I'm wrong anywayOriginally posted by Xephone_xenon:I dont have answer sheet leh

One more. I think this one is do-able. But i cant see the pattern to it.

First one i think dont try too hard on it.
I think impossible one.
And may i know what secondary school is BVSS? Question so funny one.
For the second qn, I can think of the next term only which is 41/264.Originally posted by Xephone_xenon:Okay i got a bloody impossible question right here.

Question correct.Originally posted by akinos:TS, before i go any further to try to solve ur 2nd problem... is there any typo in the question? because ur simplified part there are errors in the fraction and decimal. so pls clarify ASAP.
But then, there are next two terms.Originally posted by tanjun:For the second qn, I can think of the next term only which is 41/264.
7/8, 2/3, 1/2, 4/11, 1/4, ____ _____
Convert them to LCD.
231/264, 176/264, 132/264, 96/264, 66/264.
I see it as a number pattern.
231, 176, 132, 96, 66
Breaking it down further by their differences.
55, 44, 36, 30
Breaking it down further again by their differences.
11, 8, 6
Notice that the difference from 11 to 8 is 3 and from 8 to 6 is 2.
Thus, the next number is 5.
55, 44, 36, 30, 25
This implies that 231, 176, 132, 96, 66, 41.Answer sure looks wierd.

That'ws why I am stuck initially but suddenly, I thought of a way.Originally posted by Xephone_xenon:But then, there are next two terms.
If the next term = 25
Then next next term? Stay the same?
Because cannot minus liao what.
that was my final answer tooOriginally posted by tanjun:That'ws why I am stuck initially but suddenly, I thought of a way.
Next term = 20
55, 44, 36, 30, 25, 20.
The difference will still be 5.
So, bringing the difference over,
231, 176, 132, 96, 66, 41, 21.
The next two terms will be 41/264 and 7/88.
Anyway, anyhow whack only lol.
I am very curious to know the two answers.
