  When you put your hand on the metal railing and someone from another side of the railing gives it a knock, you will feel the vibration right?

  Seismic waves travel for thousands of miles, in fact, across the whole earth though the other end of the earth probably can't feel a thing... only machines can detect.

  There are no 'split lines' or 'faults' (plate boundaries) in Singapore itself. The nearest one would be right next to Indonesia itself. Thats why when the Earthquake happened Singapore could feel it. We are geologically near to the epicenter of the quake, although not near enough to experience severe damage.
