Good question.
I once question myself about this question too. After following the what is needed from the syllabus, I found out that those are really general idea of content you should know.
The syllabus that you found on the first few pages of your TYS actually tells you what you should know about each chapter. It's also called the learning Outcome.
What it's written there commonly is a short and sweet sentence of what you should know. But within that short and sweet sentence, there is actually a lot of things which you are required to know. And those are the details.
You can follow what is written in the syllabus, but please make sure that you know your work till the last detail of information.

I took a look at it clearly states that the topics that needed to be learned. I was thinking, can I use it as a general guideline to what I should revise on, and not just consuming the knowledge of the whole Biology book which is thick and regurgitating all of them ? That case, I have lesser to study and more to focus.
