What is the full question? What are you supposed to do?
I assume you want to mean simplify?
To simplify, you multiply (1-x) to the numerator and the denominator.
Then you get
( 1 - x + 1 + x ) / ( 1 - x - 1 - x)
2 / (-2x)
- 1/x (shown)
required to prove LHS = RHS?
assume x <> 1, (which would give a division by zero error in the original equation anyway)
replace the 2 one's on the left (1 in the numerator and 1 in the denomiator) with "(1 - x) / (1 - x)"
i.e.
numerator : (1 - x) / (1 - x) + (1 + x) / (1 - x)
denominator : (1 - x) / (1 - x) - (1 + x) / (1 - x)
