Hello all! :)
Anybody here taking Art H1 subject (code 8879) this year?
Or anybody studying the subject in JC?
I'm looking for notes, extra classes, tuition or 'lubangs' that can help me in the subject. :)
Thanks all!
PM me!
Bumpz le
Waa no one taking ah?
Or perhaps anyone taking Art H2 (subject code 9763) in this year's A levels?
I simply need any form of help (notes, study aids, lesson objectives) for the Theory component of H2..
Anyone?? :(
Bump x 10
Like that means no one taking lor.
Yeah man..
Bumpz anyway? :(
i took art h2 i and just finished my a'levels. if im not wrong h1 art theory is the same as h2 art theory so i can help just ask me here or something.
by the way im curious why you took h1 art...? i honestly think there is no point taking h1 art.
im bored so haha...
are you taking h1 art in school or private? if it is in school your teacher should be able to provide you with information and notes you need unless your teacher is anyhow one.
i honestly didnt use my teacher's notes intensively when studying for my a'levels. i did most of my studying online and used my school notes and syllabus chart provided by moe to guide myself. the new art syllabus puts more focus on analysis and discussion rather than memorisation, so it can be good or bads news depending on what type of student you are.
it is completely possible to do well for art theory with only a fundamental understanding of the art movement and the artist. mainly because there are just too many ways to interpret art so there isnt a right answer. if you can prove a point well you will have the marks even though in reality you dont know anything about the artist. in a nutshell if you can turn bullshit into a credible essay, you are safe.
oh and wikipedia is your best friend
Hey aiglosicicle!
Thank you very much for the reply! =)
I was about to give up with this thread actually! hehe
Firstly, yup you are right, art h1 theory is the same as art h2 theory, so perhaps I shall be your private online tutee? hehe.. Oh yes, I'm taking this year's As as a private candidate.
Anyway, the reason I wanted to take art h1 is because for eligibility to enter University, I need to have a minimum of 2 As and 2 AOs in one sitting right? Therefore, I already have the other 2 A level subjects in mind: Math A and Malay Literature H2 and English Literature A; while my 2 AO subjects will be GP and Art H1.
I have always thought that Malay H2 and Malay H1 cannot be used together; so that's why I'm taking Art H1 instead of Malay H1.
Yup, its true that Wiki is my best friend! I just compiled intensive biographies and various important artworks of the important artists (mentioned in the Art H1 Syllabus) such as Chuck Close, Duane Hanson, Rene Magrite, Piet Mondrian, Jackson Pollack, Constantin Brancusi and many others.
What I wish to know is how to go about understanding the various art movements; also, there's no 10-yr series for Art H1 or any exam-model questions right?
Yup, thanks man! And I thought no one here takes Art! hehe

for me my school notes explained quite sufficiently the art movements and some online research on my own helped me understand. once again for understanding you can find everything online haha. but you must be determined and slowly read through all the google search results because there is seldom one website that gives everything you want to know. for the movements that are more vague and and which lack online documentation then you might want to rely more on your own interpretations (once again if your bullshit makes sense you still get the mark).
wah private will be quite difficult for you. are you retaking a'level? have you done an art paper before? maybe you should find some tutor (not sure if there are any). no official ten-year series although there is a complete set of past year papers each jc has but they are useless cos of the new syllabus. so there is only one real past year paper which is my year. unfortunately i dont have it with me. i dont know if moe sends private students the past year papers.
