Singlish is wad makes Singaporeans stand out from other english speaking ppl. It is like a symbol. Imagine one day, everyone of us is speaking perfect english, wouldn't tat be weird? We would be no different from ang mohs den.

1. singlish defines a singaporean. its a rojak(mixture) of all the different languages and dialects in singapore. its a singaporean culture. eg. u go overseas. once u hear a singaporean speak u can confirm that is singaporean cos singlish is so uniquely singapore.
2. use everywhere in singapore. except maybe during official stuff when english is used.
3. very much in used. everyday every min of our lives.
4.family fren, work school, others -- all can use.

6. got ah? dunno. see eagle's eg. but then that was made by the govt so not alot of singlish inside also..

My name is Veronica. I am a 23 year old female. I live in the United States. I am a junior (third year) University student. my major is English. I'm not quite sure what else you want to know.... so if you want to know something then please just ask.

1. its just another dialect or slang if you will.
2. singlish is something we use among our peers and when we are comfortable. but for business appointments, presentations, any official matter we obviously cannot use singlish. a certain level of professionalism is needed.
3. totally depends on the person. if the person hangs out at the business district everyday he would at least have developed a more refined personality. i would say the average person uses it everyday.
4. all settings are applicable among your colleagues subordinates etc.
5. some books are based on it. as well as some comics using singlish to bring a local flavor into the story.
6. professional music i don't think so. spoofs maybe.
