KUALA LUMPUR: Former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad has quit the ruling United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) party.
"I won't call it UMNO anymore, this is Najib's party. I feel embarrassed that I am associated with a party that is seen as supporting corruption - it had caused me to feel ashamed," he told reporters as he announced his exit at a news conference.
But the ex-PM added that he would not set up a new party or join any other party. -
We need more real-life Dr Houses in every country, as every year tens of thousands of patients around the world continue to suffer and die from undiagnosed medical conditions. It's not so much (maybe to some extent) that the doctors and nurses discriminate against foreign workers, but rather that the overworked and underpaid (nurses even moreso than doctors) give equally lousy service to Singaporeans, the only difference is Singaporeans come with family who (unlike socially bullied foreign workers) are more prone to complaining angrily to get the nurses' and doctors' attention. Medical service is bad enough in Singapore's hospitals (both private and public), and it's even worse in most other countries. I blame the rich corrupt finance professions who keep getting richer at the expense of the rest of society, one consequence being the healthcare profession being overworked and underpaid and concordantly giving lousy service to the public.

Is Mahathir really any better than Najib? The answer depends on who you ask (and whether that person's hands have dipped into the coffers of the generous donation from the middle-east). From PAP's perspective, Najib is a friendlier neighbor to Singapore than Mahathir. Who will eventually win in this Najib vs Mahathir fight? The answer, to me, is obvious. Isn't it for you?
