China killed up to 20 CIA sources from 2010 to 2012, hobbling U.S. spying operations in a massive intelligence breach whose origin has not been identified, the New York Times reported on Saturday. Investigators remain divided over whether there was a spy within the Central Intelligence Agency who betrayed the sources or whether the Chinese hacked the CIA's covert communications system, the newspaper reported, citing current and former U.S. officials. One was shot and killed in front of a government building in China, three officials told the Times, saying that was designed as a message to others about working with Washington.

Very unfortunate, poor Ayumi. However, her going deaf is partly her own fault, in 2 cumulative ways : when she had a ENT infection, she chose to be a workaholic and ignored it to continue working ; anyone with an occupational exposure to loud noises / music / sounds should be wearing earplugs (which do not shut out noise completely, just reduces it to safe levels, she would still have been able to perform as a singer with earplugs on). Even at the cinema, let alone at (even noisier) night/dance clubs or pubs (with live bands), and certainly at any (speaker blasting) live concert performance (possibly with the exception of softer classical piano or orchestra type performances at the Esplanade), are hazardously loud activities in which you should consider putting on earplugs. Here's (yet another) excellent BedokFunland JC public service tip : You can buy $2 earplugs at Daiso, and keep it on you at all times (eg. in your wallet or bag, just like you would a small mirror). You never know when you might need them whenever you go out.

Jeffrey Law's letter illustrates why the idea of morality is not just an illusion, verily it is a delusion. Only legality, ethics and cosmoethics are real, and even these are inevitably subjective, eg. issues of legality debated by lawyers and judges in the courtroom, and just because a judge ruled lawyer A correct, doesn't mean another judge wouldn't rule lawyer B correct instead ; the ethically 'correct' decision for different persons in the same situation may have to be different, due to unique backgrounds, motivations and perspectives, which is why by nature ethics is subjective. If morality is taken as relative and subjective, then it's essentially ethics, and that's correct. If morality is taken as absolute and objective, then it becomes a harmful dogmatic delusion (but apparently less evolved consciousnesses need this as a crutch). Get off your delusional moral high horse, Jeffrey!

When will people learn? It's fallacious to say "MMA vs (a certain martial art)". Because MMA *isn't* a martial art, it's the *application* of *multiple* martial arts. So if say, Donnie Yen, were to fight in an MMA match, he would use a mix of the dozen or so martial arts that he's proficient in, including Wing Chun and Tai Ji (recall last month's "Tai Ji versus MMA" nonsense?), and of course, BJJ as well. That's point #1.
And point #2, one-vs-one without weapons, BJJ is the ultimate martial arts (but quite useless if it's many-vs-one, Aikido would be a lot more useful for that). So it's correct to say that BJJ would beat Tai Ji or Wing Chun one-vs-one, but it's still nonsense to say it's "MMA versus Tai Ji or Wing Chun", coz MMA isn't a martial art, but a mix of multiple martial arts. So there.

Thankfully, Lyme disease is rare in Singapore. But sometimes, a supposedly low rate could be unfortunately due to under diagnosis and lack of awareness, rather than actual non-existence. A polyneuropathy that involves shooting pains, numbness, and tingling in the hands or feet may develop. A neurologic syndrome called Lyme encephalopathy is associated with subtle cognitive difficulties, insomnia, a general sense of feeling unwell, and changes in personality. In rare cases, untreated Lyme disease may cause frank psychosis, which has been misdiagnosed as schizophrenia or bipolar disorder. Panic attacks and anxiety can occur; also, delusional behavior may be seen, including somatoform delusions, sometimes accompanied by a depersonalization or derealization syndrome, where the patients begin to feel detached from themselves or from reality.
