[Singapore / Video] - These days, you hear increasing complaints involving Uber and Grab. Other than the generic reason that social media is increasingly accessible and amplifying such complaints, the other more specific reason is that previously, only taxi drivers took to the roads, and they reluctantly endured the service sector problems that are part of the job (even from pre-Uber & Grab days, you do occasionally hear taxi drivers and passengers complaining about each other). These days with Grab and Uber, not only are there more such 'service drivers' which in and of itself would increase the number of complaints, but more specifically, both Singaporean passengers and Singaporean Grab & Uber drivers, feel they both deserve more respect from each other as part of the deal (taxi drivers are thinking, finally now you know how we've suffered all these years). In this instance, it's not just about the 10 minutes waiting miscom prob that pissed both passenger and driver, it's more the perceived disrespect and rudeness each felt from the other. The passenger felt the driver was being disrespectful and rude in asking his qn, "Why u 10 mins late?!?", (which the driver felt was a perfectly reasonable qn, and was just expecting an apology which would have been the end of the matter), and so she, feeling disrespected by that question, deliberately ignored that question, and he felt that she was being unacceptably disrespectful and rude in ignoring him, so both felt unacceptably disrespected by each other, which was the flash point for both losing their tempers at each other.
On a related note, the following incident (also in Singapore) is actually far worse in every way, on both the part of the behavior of the passengers *and* the driver. The driver was taking a big risk escalating the altercation, even if she did successfully make her point in an epic way.
