Ideally, racing drivers should be as light as possible. When u body build, u're not developing the sort of muscle groups and functions for use in a racing car, and u're adding unnecessary bulk to yourself and the car. The lighter the driver, the more "free" weight the team can make up in ballast to meet the minimal weight limit, and the easier it is to find the ideal weight distribution in a car.
So if Lee Priest IS a nascar racer, he's not doing himself any favours.
that brings me to my 2nd point. Lee Priest is NOT a NASCAR racer. His name does not appear in NASCAR's official list of all Nextel Cup, Busch Cup and Craftsman Truck Series Drivers since 1975(Nextel Cup), 1982(Busch Cup) or 1995(Craftsman Truck). There is no mention of a driver with this name whatsoever.
In Lee's own site, his bio makes no mention ever of him having been a NASCAR racer at any point of his life, ever.
Its just not viable for anybody who is serious about racing, to build up bulk like a bodybuilder. Besides the points I've already mentioned above, any driver who does that is not going to fit into any racing car easily. Any driver of Lee's bulk will also have problems exiting the car in the case of an emergency. If F1, racing drivers unable to exit the car within 5 seconds are not allowed to race. Consider a NASCAR's car entrance/exit "hatch" is basically its driver side window, and how small it is, as its further restricted by the roll cage and the bucket seat. The result? Anyone who bodybuilds can forget about racing even on an amateur level. He or she won't be able to meet the safety regulations.
