Dips is a compound chest movement,period. It involves the whole pec area,the front delts and tris.Auxiliary muscles worked include the other 2 heads of the delts and the upper back(traps,lats etc)
Well,when I mean dips,I mean the kind when your two hands are on two parallel bars and your legs are dangling in the air.
Not the kind of dips when you can rest your heels on the floor/bench.
You go try dips and see how many you can do...There is this case of a 250lb BB who bench press 400lb but struggled to do dips when he first tried it for the first time...Generally the harder the exercise,the better it is. Exercises which make your torso move through space are the best. Read dips,pull ups, squats and deadlifts. In the bench press,only your arms are moving...
