Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson expects to see Ruud van Nistelrooy back in pre-season training next week, despite the Dutchman looking likely to exit Old Trafford this summer.
The 30-year-old striker has been the subject of a failed bid from Real Madrid, while he is also on the wanted list of Bayern Munich after signalling his intention to leave the Red Devils.
RUUD VAN NISTELROOY However, with no deal in the offing, Ferguson said: "Ruud is not definitely leaving and I expect to see him at training on Monday.
"I spoke to chief executive David Gill on the phone on Thursday and there is no development as far as Real Madrid is concerned.
"They have made an offer, we have rejected it. That is where the situation lies. If they don't come back in and increase their offer, he won't be going and I would be content with that.
"It would not bother me one bit. He is a striker who can score upwards of 20 goals a season and there are not many of those going around."
It will be great to see him back.
now man utd will have to worry about the midfield problem
I hope Nistelrooy, Rooney and Ronaldo, all sit down and have a good talk. They should put behind their bullshit and play like a team.. Nistelrooy is a proven goalscorer. Maybe SAF try get one more winger who can cross the ball well like Joaquin or Sabrosa...
