I must improve, claims ParkJi-sung Park wants to avoid the dreaded 'difficult second season' at Old Trafford and has set demands on himself to contribute more goals and assists to the team in the new campaign.
Park managed two goals in 45 appearances during his debut term in England and was United's second highest assist maker behind Wayne Rooney. He quickly became popular with fans for his energetic and skilful performances, growing in stature throughout the season. But 'Ji' insists he must not stand still and has to show continued improvement.
"In my first season, it was an honour to play for United and I knew I had to learn a lot," he told Yonhap news agency. "Personally, I think this season is more important. The kind of play that I show will decide whether I remain [at United] or follow the footsteps of other players who have left the team."
Park is targeting a more goals from United's midfield and plans to be more direct and penetrative when attacking from the left and right flanks.
"This season I would like to show visible results with goals or assists," he said. "The number of goals I make needs to increase in multiples. I think I need to increase my number of assists by just a few more.
"Just as my fans long for goals, I also want to put some in. If I get the chance, I will go straight for a goal," he added.
