Rooney To Captain England?
Wayne Rooney was tipped last night by new boss Steve McClaren to be a future England captain. McClaren, who meets up with his players in Manchester this afternoon ahead of Wednesday's friendly with Greece at Old Trafford, said: "I can most definitely see him as a future England captain. I went to the United training ground last week and had a good day. The first thing Wazza said to me was 'I'm the captain' who's going to be the vice-captain? That's the confidence of the lad and what he brings to the table. He's still very young but wants to be the best player in the world. I know he wants to be England captain one day and that's a possibility. Who knows when that will be?"

Sir Alex Ferguson calls on McClaren to field Gary Neville and Rio Ferdinand in England's midweek friendly against Greece, to boost their fitness ahead of Sunday's clash with Fulham.
The Sun quotes Sir Alex's Sevilla programme notes to reveal that United will not spend over the odds in the transfer market this summer.
