Paul Scholes can hardly wait for the new Premiership season to begin. The Salford schemer was sidelined for four months of last season with an eye injury and, after a promising pre-season, is relishing the visit of Fulham on Sunday.
"I had a long time out and I'm glad to be back playing," Scholes told United Review.
"It [pre-season] has gone okay from a personal point of view and I'm just looking forward to starting the season now."
Unfortunately for Scholes, his three-game ban begins after Sunday's match, but he is well aware that the Cottagers will provide a stern test of United's early-season ambitions.
"They're an awkward team to play against as they play good football," he admitted.
"We've had some tough games against them over the years, especially at Old Trafford, and there's no doubt it's going to be a tough opening game.
"Hopefully we can get through it with a win."
