Fulham boss Chris Coleman has tipped United for the title if the Reds can maintain the form they showed in their opening fixture at Old Trafford.According to Coleman, United "steamrollered" the Cottagers in Sunday's 5-1 win, instigated by a whirlwind start to the match that saw Sir Alex Ferguson's side go 4-0 up in the opening 19 minutes.
Fulham, who had an appalling away record last season, produced a performance that is unlikely to prove United's most testing challenge this term. But United still needed to exploit the opportunity, which was at times absent last season.
"When United hit that form, you could be looking at the new champions," Coleman told Sky Sports. "They were devastating at times and, to be fair to our lads, we couldn't get anywhere near them.
"They steamrollered us. We couldn't get the ball and when we did get it we gave it back too easily," he added.
Coleman acknowledged that United's start to the match was the key to the victory.
"We got a lesson today," he added. "On that type of form, United are going to beat anybody. If they keep that up, I don't see anybody to touch them in possession. Offensively they were absolutely devastating and we couldn't live with them."
