There was Alan Smith, Djamba2, Rio, Liam Miller understudy to Roy Keane.
But there is a player, who in his first season a hit with Man U fans, who has the characteristics of a ferocious tackler. That guy is Heinz !
He plays left back but he can also center back.
If Evra maintains his performance like the Fulham game, then I say Man should try Heinze in that role. He is combatative, never afraid to go in for a hard tackle and as a defender, he reads the game very well.

I think Carrick i bought to replace ageing Scholes.
As for Heinze, i sincerely hope that Neville will NOT step into the field as United player ever again. He's seriously over-over-rated. I'd prefer the starting backline now: Wes Brown - Rio Ferdinand - Heinze - Evra. Silvestre on the bench.
I think if Hargreaves is not coming to Old Trafford, O'Shea seems to fit the bill.

GVN not playing and Wes Brown???!!
Brown is a solid defender who doesn't give an inch.
but at fullback, he is lacking, cause he can't go up and down as GVN.
Look at Oshea during the last game, he is found wanting too.
If only Evra or Heinz can play on the right, then we have no problems, cause we can rotate Evra, Heinz, Silvertre and GVN around.
